I would ask that people keep the messages they get to themselves though. i.e. Don't post those messages to metachat. Don't tell metachat how many million messages you got. A couple of people were put off by the competitive nature of last years valentines.

I too have signed up to this.

I tried to sign up, since my funky user name broke the system last year, leaving me sadly on the outside looking in. But guess what - my funky user name broke the sign-in this year, too. Probably because my account is some weird amalgamation of "its raining" and "It's Raining Florence Henderson." So. Anyway - I love you all, and I'm just going to assume that you love me, too. If you don't - too bad. I already assumed it. Can't be undone.

Weretable, I understand your worries. But it keeps track of who you've sent to, and as long as people post in this thread that they've signed up, it should be fairly easy to make sure no one is forgotten.

It's funny, but I'm averaging about 1 valentine for every 5 sent. Pretty consistently. Would that I could graph it. Math is the best Valentine's Day gift of all.

Yes, I'm pretty certain it'll treat usernames as case-sensitive, so dot your 'i's and cross your 't's, bunnies!

If anyone else has problems logging in or forgets their password, just drop me an email.

For how long will these be up? Will the messages stay up but the messaging part be disabled? For at least a little while?

Haven't thought about that yet! I guess it would make sense to turn off new valentines after 24 hours or something, but there's no reason the messages can't remain available for longer.

Whoops! There was a restriction that wouldn't allow super-short usernames. I've taken that out now, and short-usernamed people like dg are now able to send and receive valentines. Love for everyone!

Yeah, believe it or not, there are about a hundred usernames that have messages waiting for them, who have not signed up to receive them yet. (Although some of those are probably down to typos.) There's a lot of love in MetaChat!

Thanks to everyone who sent me a message, or the one person that sent me lots. :P I'm humbled. And some of you are perverts. Which is awesome.

I haven't sent nearly enough out. I'm sorry, I'm really busy and packing for a sudden move so I can go make art and music with weirdos. (This is why I keep most of my stuff in totes or trunks. Makes packing easy! Don't have to go find cardboard boxes!)

And Portland? I'll be back. This is the first time I've ever NOT wanted to leave a city, but SF is a pretty damn nice upgrade and standby even if I'll be slumming it, and frankly I miss California a little. Hopefully I'll even avoid getting a tan and it'll stay foggy and gloomy while I'm down there ;)

I know, I know I'm breaking all the "rules", but, damnit, how can we not talk about this stuff? Are you lonely? Me too. A lot of people are. It seems to be part of being human. Take solace in knowing that you're not actually alone.
