Well, I visit a lot of used record stores. Libraries, and interlibrary loan programs, are a great way to get jazz cds (even and especially OOP ones). I've got a few pals who are also jazz fans. (And, y'know, p2p and blogs and whatnot.)

Thanks, paul.

Louis Armstrong - Twelfth Street Rag
Cassandra Wilson - Shall We Dance
Bud Powell - I've Got You Under My Skin
Art Pepper - Waltz Me Blues
Charles Mingus - Ysabel's Table Dance

"In A Sentimental Mood" was the first song I danced to with the mother of my kids. And this cut, with Coltrane in front of Duke Ellington is one of the bits of iconic jazz you could have dug up. Damn, box, just go ahead and push all my buttons.

Dream A Little Dream Of Me is one of my favourite songs of all time in all its renditions. *sigh*

I'm just sitting here, listening to box put up Coltrane, and Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Mingus and all these other artists in a little narrowcast pool of grateful people, and I am thinking we owe a lot to the musical artists and the folks who've helped them store this music, but we also owe some thanks to people like Jon Postel and Vinton Cerf, to say nothing of mudpuppie, seanyboy, taz, dodgygeezer and the other MeCha folks who make this possible. Jon Postel is past caring, and Cerf probably doesn't need my well wishes.

But to the Mecha folks who make this work, and let people who care about music share it with others, thanks for the commercial free, idiosyncratically selected, great music in the night, and the daylight. You're runnin' a beacon of hope in the wilderness, here, I tell ya.
