Maybe I'm just negative today but I stopped reading about a third of the way in. People who go to a lot of trouble to maintain something "unique" that will get them attention every day of their lives are such damn drama queens. Like those long hair women on American Idol last night. The daughter is just caught up in it but the mom seems to have a problem.
My grandfather used to make "stationary pads" of $2 bills when I was a kid. He is a weird dude, but no billionaire. I think I still have a couple very crisp $2 bills stuck together somewhere around here.
I suppose it might just be a function of wanting to be noticed, but it seems odd that Wozniak, who could have been as famous as Gates or Jobs, if he had chosen to, would do such petty stuff purely for personal attention. I suspect he likes to draw attention to the performance of tipping or exchanging money. The Waitress and the Customer act out a play hundreds of times per day, so that it becomes rote for all of us; when Woz does sometime "for comedy" like rip perforated bills off of a pad, it draws attention to that particular enactment of the performace.
I'm a rather cynical person. Also, I can honestly say I wouldn't know Wozniak if I saw him. I'm not really familiar with him. I know he's a big deal to the tech crowds and whatnot, but he's just not a blip on my radar. ::shrugs:: No big deal.
As a result, I read his story like I would read a story of any other normal person. And it is insanely funny. There was a site online where you could buy pads of $100 worth of $1 bills. I thought it was a really funny idea. Kudos to him. I'm sure if I received a tip in such a manner, it would really brighten up my day. I saw nothing "petty" or "drama queen"-esque about this. I thought it was cute.
He only begins to deviate from my view of a "normal person" when he starts talking about how much money he owes/has given his kids. That's just ridiculous! Lucky kids.
Yeah, I'm the kind of bitch who wouldn't comment on his money trick, just to be that way. Which is it's own brand of drama. Guess we work with what we've got :)
