Either the mirrors at Bloomingdales are rigged, or my insane gym-going last week is actually paying off. Woo![More:] It's nice to see myself and think, "Damn, I look good" again. It's been a while.

(Though I'm not totally discounting the possibility that the mirrors at Bloomingdales are rigged, because that was about the nicest bathroom I have ever been in, and magic "Look how wonderful you look! You should buy expensive clothes to celebrate!" mirrors would not have been out of the realm of possibility.)
It's probably some of both. Congrats.

Maybe the mirror's been working out.

The piano has been drinking....

I don't know why I had to post this, but I did. *shrug*

I don't know -- Bloomingdales seems all stereotypically New York socialite and shit. I would suspect it's more likely to be anorexic, you know? (Whereas in SF chains, the skinny mirror would be vegan.)

Yeah, fuckin mirrors. The one in the men's room here is on steroids, and the one at Antarctica has a beer gut and bluured vision. What is it with fuckin' mirrors anyway, always reflecting shit and breaking and causing seven years of bad luck. Stupid shiny-ass bastards.

Mine has wrinkles. Shit.

I mean, yaaaay occhi! I hope I can say something similar sometime soon.

:) happymirrorthing. It's so good. I look great in our elevator mirror... I want to steal it and take it with me wherever I go.

Great news occhiblu! Good for you. Feeling and looking great is one of the best feelings, for me anyway. :)

Yes. It actually inspired me to go the gym again yesterday. "Look! My butt looks good! Must keep cute butt!" :)

I actually like to exercise -- I've been feeling a HELL of lot better this week than I have in a while, weight loss or no. I suspect that's more the yoga than the gym, but I also think the yoga works better when I'm slightly lighter than I am right now, so it all ties in.

I was also pleasantly surprised last week to find out how strong I still am. I hadn't done any work with weights in a long time, but apparently yoga is just as (or more?) strength-building as they say it is. I feel all superhero-y.

(OK, that "or more?" made no sense in that previous comment. Sorry.)

Heh, I hate to burst bubbles (liar), but a tiny bit of concavity on the vertical axis is quite common in large mirrors, and this slight distortion can do wonders for someone's appearance.

Of course, the opposite is also true, that is, convexity.

More power to you and good luck. It's just that I've always been able to eat loads of junk food and guzzle beer and still be naturally slender, so it gives me the occasional opportunity to playfully gloat. Although, when I briefly quit smoking a few years ago, I put on about 30 pounds. When I started again, it went away.

So the secret to weight loss is smoking, basically.

Yeah, and they were tilted a bit... like I said, I do suspect there was some "Let's boost people's egos so they buy clothes" alchemy going on.

But the scale numbers are down, and my clothes fit better, and my face looks leaner in the mirror at home, and I have a LOT more energy and a MUCH better general outlook on life, so... I'm deciding I'm allowed to believe in the cuteness of my butt. :)

With that outlook on life, you'll go far, ms. occhi

yay for feeling good!

may I also be allowed to believe in the cuteness of occhi's butt? Because I really am a true believer. The sooner we have someone in the White House who believes he/she gets messages from occhiblu's cute butt, the better. The fate of the world is hanging on this, guys!

jonmc, I do believe you will punished for your gloating one day. I have to believe this, and I can't wait to see the photos you take at the gym, in between huffing and puffing. We'll forgive the little drops of sweat obscuring the lens.

If you ever see a jonmc-looking cat at the gym, it'll be an imposter, so feel free to shoot him. I'll be in the bar next door.

My cute butt channels all that is good and hopeful in the world. It is true.

Yeah, I used to be like that too - eating all sorts of shit all the time, never doing any real exercise and staying at 75kg no matter what. Since I gave up smoking, the weight has gradually piled on and, at 87kg, it is time to do something about it. Goodbye heaping bowls of icecream, assorted takewaways, chocolate and every other kind of food worth eating - hello rabbit food and endless bike riding.

Still, I will feel a lot better, I know. It all came crashing home to me last might when I got heartburn for the first time in my life and I can only attribute it to the extra bulk around my middle. Also, the welts from my belt, because I refuse to do it up at a larger hole out of sheer obstinacy.
