Inarticulate, gauche, anxious to please - it turns out the modern woman rather likes that in a man.

As two very wise men once said: Don't believe the hype. Brad Pitt still gets laid more than Linus Torvalds.

He does at the moment, but you wait and see. I mean, come on ladies - howzah! No?

Nah, dude. It's one of life's hardest lessons: the ladies are just as looks-obessed and superficial as we are.

No word about geek girls, sadly.

Whereas once an evolutionary imperative drew women to strong, powerful hunter-gatherer types, today it leads them to the geek whom no one had previously noticed but who has the keys to our great digital future. He is not a leader nor a warrior, he is utterly lacking in charm, but he is in tune with the new technology.

Oh how I wish Terence Blacker wasn't just making up crap as he went along :-(

I think Bill Gates is really hot. I loves me some geeky redheads.

That is a pretty good picture of Torvalds.

It is too bad there is not much publicity about female geeks, but the publicity about male geeks seems as negative as it seems positive, so maybe it's just as well.

Yeah, you're right about the publicity for geek girls. Scoble mentions a few but, and I might be wrong, they seem to be presenters of Tech podcasts rather than "coal-face" coders. I really can't face watching tens of video podcasts every day to get the minutiae on every last thing, so I use Scoble as a filter to pick out the higher profile stuff. I hope I haven't just done an army of female geeks a disservice.
