This was one of the oddest spinoff series in television history. [More:] I actually remember watching this a few times as a kid and finding it amusing, but kids are easy to amuse*.And I was probably just jazzed with myself for recognizing the connection. I never did get to see this pilot for a spinoff of the same series. Not sure why. Maybe I was grounded or something. Maybe it's floating around in cyberworld.

*IIRC, it was usually on around the same time as this, which featured a penguin who spoke in the voice of Maxwell Smart and raised extremely minor (and horribly animated) havoc in the city zoo where he lived, laughed and loved. TV had less choices back then, but there was more serendipity in what you stumbled upon somehow.
I have a vague memory of having seen that as well, but only vague. Tennessee Tuxedo I've seen here in Japan on the Cartoon Network.

I was a sucker for all of these cartoon shows, and I remember this and the Unkle Kroc show where it was shown. I also remember them showing Fraidy Cat and Wacky and Packy. Now I have no clue what I saw in those shows other than something to stare at while sitting on the couch while being grounded.

When I started watching Match Game I remember being excited that Unkle Kroc was on it (going by the name Charles Nelson Reilly). For some reason whenever I hear Crocodile Rock I STILL think of Unkle Kroc belting out a horrible version of it - which could be why I still dread hearing that tune.

Anyone remember The Secret Lives of Waldo Kitty? That was another atrocious kids show I recall watching regularly. How about "In the News" hosted by Christopher Glenn on CBS in between the weekend kids shows?

Wow... I've never heard of this one. And I thought I knew everything about M*A*S*H. I spent hours teaching myself the theme song on the piano (I don't really play the piano).

I was a big fan of the shortlived Star Trek cartoon, though. The episodes weren't bad... wasn't a parody, however. (Dr. Greenblood? Captain Smirk? Groans McCoy?)

(I can assure you neither one is a hoax. I'm not that clever. and I remember both shows.)

And I spent hours learning all the words while my friend learned to play it on the piano.

"Uncle Croc's Block" did exist, but not for long... (IMDB) Not only CNR as the title character but Jonathan "Dr. Smith" Harris as 'Director' Basil Bitterbottom. And Kenneth Mars and Robert Ridgely doing most of the voices on "M-U-S-H"... verrry nice. It seems to be the Filmation animation studio's brief attempt at trying to rise above their usual mediocre or worse fare (Archie, Aquaman, animated Gilligan).

Tennessee Tuxedo was more than 10 years older, from the same people who did Underdog (and the same outsourced Mexican animators who did Bullwinkle). Don Adams was Tennessee and Larry Storch played Mr. Whoopie, who helped him out when he was in trouble with segments of "educational content".

There was a lot of talk about "In the News" when Christopher Glenn recently passed away.

Now, how many of you remember "Milton the Monster", the Frankenstein-as-Gomer-Pyle spoof from the 60s? (with Professor Weirdo, Count Kook and Milton's 'brothers' Heebie and Jeebie... plus rotating secondary toons including "Fearless Fly" and "Flukey Luke")

Or the same animators' superhero toon "Batfink" with his culturally embarrassing Japanese sidekick Karate and goofy supervillain Hugo Agogo?

A friend of mine used to get up at 5:30 in the morning before school to watch Underdog. I shared his enthusiasm, but I needed my sleep.
