(the dogs, I mean, not the old guy. Those two dogs bark like hell at everyone passing by, until they recognize you, which seems to take about 6 months)

Yup, that's a Maltese. My parents have one (an older, more ruffled looking one- Owen Meany is almost 15). The dogs in that picture look like Lhaso Apso's, or ShitZu's.
