Talk me off the ledge people!! Okay, not really, and I shouldn't make light of a serious issue during the holiday season, but....[More:]Holy fuck, if I have any more job stress, I am going to snap. It's Christmas, I have enough to worry about without all this shit!!

Please, buddhas of mechaland, pass along some good advice on dealing with insane work demands, balancing busy work and busy life, or, even just pat me on the head and tell me it's gonna be okay.

Many thanks.

No, really. It's going to be okay. Or, it may not be okay. But in the end, you can only do what you can do, in the timeframe you have, with the speed in which you do it. You can only do your best to get through the work at some decent level of achievement. And try to see your family. And it will probably be okay.

Everything will be fine, richat. You are level-headed and resourceful, and I find that stress tends to come in cycles or waves. Right now you're at a stress crest, so to speak. It sucks now, and I know just what you're going through because I recently had one myself with my medical problems and work and home and the whole thing. But (to continue the cliché train), what goes up must come down, and you have relaxing times ahead of you.

I know it fucking sucks now. Lower your head and shoulders and trudge through it and you'll come out the other end stronger and more appreciative of the rare quiet times.

In other words, buck up, little camper! Turn that frown upside down!

Thanks you guys. I know you are right, of course, but it sure if nice to hear it said anyway.

And, who doesn't want a spliff rolled by a REALLY cute kitten?

Hey, Richat - if it helps any, my job situation is just as bad. I've been unemployed since moving out to New England. I've worked nine days out here!

So, as stressful as work is, it's good to have some regardless. Be thankful you have family with you, money for gifts, and at least one day guaranteed to spend with them.

Imagine the alternative.

I believe in you, man, this too will pass. You're a good man and will prevail.

Talk me off the ledge people!!

Don't do ledge people. They're usually circumsized. Now, stoop people ... that's some good lovin'.

Spliff Kitty is rocking my world right now! Keep on rollin', you cuddly little toker!

My work mantra was, "It'll get done. It always gets done." Because, well, it always did. Sometimes crappily. Sometimes by the skin of my teeth. But I always found a way to do it. And you will, too. I have absolutely no doubt.

Many pats, richat.
And stay off that damned ledge. It'll make you dizzy and nauseous.

I despise the "holiday" season. We're going to visit the future in-law people tomorrow. Very nice folks and I like them, but it's going to be a cacophony of "when's the date?" and we've decided to postpone until it can actually maybe be a little fun. Ugh.

Hang in there. This too shall pass. All that other happy pollyanna BS.
(It WILL pass!)

So, lilywing, when's the date? Neither of you is getting any younger you know.

AARRRGHHH!!!
(as soon as all of the practicalities allow)
:-)

He's turning 30 in a week and wants all of his family there, as it's his first marriage. There are some legal things (change of custody for my kiddos) that have to be looked after, as well.

Rest assured, we wish it was tomorrow.

Ugh.
NOT change of custody.
Change of COUNTY of residence, as we'll be moving a couple of counties over. Their dad has already expressed his displeasure. Never mind that he owes us over 8K USD in child support and it'll be a much better situation for the children. He's gonna have to drive quite a bit more for the visitation.

As you can see, it's unnerving to deal with.

Sorry, y'all, for the rantings.

richat, more HUGS to you! Holidays tend to suck the big one. Hope it all goes as peacefully as possible.
