Greetings from Ohio! →[More:]I arrived last night, after a horrible day's travelling - lots of turbulence on the flight, 'dinner' served before noon, then seven hours without food or drink until the snack was served, sucky, sucky movies, air conditioning not working, then delays at O'Hare in immigration and with American Eagle having 'operational issues', dehydrated, headache (which cost me a fortune buying some Advil at O'Hare, it was $9 for a small container), ears hurting from pressure ... oh the joys of long-haul flights.
But I slept well, the weather here is just beautiful - sunny, warm, beautiful clear skies. I want snow!!
Diane bought me a really fabulous Christmas waistcoat (vest), with baubles and sequins on it. We can't seem to buy really cheesy Christmas sweaters in England, and this one is just perfect.
Tomorrow we're having a tree-trimming party and there's lots of people want to see me, which is lovely.
Smokey, George's cat, is still alive, at 20 years old, and she was so happy to see me. I'm the only person she'll let pick her up and fuss her (she's always been a farm cat, lived outdoors, not pampered, except by me, which is why she loves to see me).
Diane is living in George's old house on the farm, and it's lovely to see the changes she's made. Last year I could barely set foot in the house, he was everywhere, it was as if he'd just stepped out for a minute. But it's really good to be here, it doesn't feel like 'his' house now, a house needs people living in it and I'm glad Diane is living there.
Today I've come down to college with Diane (she's a college professor) and am taking the opportunity to use high-speed internet to just say hello to everyone.
Play nice and share your toys, now. Don't make me come over there!
