Weekly Project Runway Thread - Final Five (and a twist) [spoilers inside]
This was my favorite episode of this season so far. Good challenge, interesting twist, no psychodrama. Plus the joy of seeing Jeffrey almost get eliminated. Michael is [edited as] a gracious, kind, saintly man as always - is he headed for a Kara-Saun-Shoegate-level ethics breach in the final?
Glad to see both Uli and Laura break out of their repetitiveness while still keeping true to their style. Both of those dresses were gorgeous and I would wear (a modified full-figure-flattering version of) each of them!
I didn't like the twist. I thought it was unnecessary drama, and I can understand how the *real* final 5 would have been pissed. I was so happy for Laura, finally winning a challenge.
I was happy for Laura as well, and I really liked her dress.
But I think it's come to say: What the HELL is up with Heidi's outfits???? I'm beginning to believe that half of what she wears is much worse than anything the worst contestants are sending down the runway.
Uli's dress had such cool little mesh touches all over it - it was fantastic. It was a 'wow' dress and would have been a fav of the judges, I think, if she hadn't done the same thing every week prior. Enough with the flowy, voluminous, patterned silky things, already! Jesus.
I really like Laura's clothes. She has a nice classic style but with a funky twist, sort of like Daniel (the cute one) from last season. I thought it was funny that her model was trying to suggest ways to make the dress younger because she thought it looked too mature, and then the judges all remarked on how youthful the dress was.
Michael's a sweetie. Right now it's hard for me to believe he wins this, since he's been elevated to saint status by the judges already. I mean, they're practically already naming him the winner, so it's hard to believe that they'd edit the show to make it slant so far in his direction. Where's the drama? I'm also getting tired of hearing Michael Kors gush, "He really thinks about it, that's what's so great about him", as if no one else besides Michael thinks.
Jeffrey needs to design something other than an outfit a whore or a rock star would wear if he wants to stay after next week. I like him, though, for some reason. And I typically can't stand bad boys.

I actually wondered how much Laura changed or edited based on her model's suggestions. Laura looked so stressed out, it was hard to tell if she was about the strangle her model or was glad to have the input.

It was funny, but illustrated a very important point that was made the first season: Wendy Pepper may be a bitch, but she does know how to listen and how to make things better. Laura did this, and she is rewarded with a win! How cool is that? I love Laura because she's a bitch one moment and awesomely cool the next. I love and hate her, which is more than I can say for some designers who I just hate. *evil glare at Jeffrey and Vincent*
