I knew that it rained a lot here, but I would not have guessed that we received as much as we did. Apparently we received 4.5 inches of rain in about two and a half hours today. Roads were closed all over the city. Not far to the north they received less than half an inch. I'm guessing that will get the grass growing again. We have a chance of more rain tomorrow.

Also my riding lawnmower is broken and needs a new deck and I dread finding out how much that costs (might make more sense to buy a new mower...bleh) so I have over 2 acres including a lot on a hillside to mow with a pushmower. At least it won't be dusty for a few days.

Man, it's been drrrry (but not particularly hot) here. I for one will welcome rain-bearing cloud overlords when they arrive.

We had a Tease Storm yesterday. It was so hot and miserable... then I woke up from an icky, sweaty nap to the sound of Big Wind[!] and this wonderfully weird, heavy, hovering, vibrating air texture, and I was thrilled down to my feet. It broke with great slashing rain and lots of nice thunder 'n lightning effects, and I rejoiced.

But, a half-hour later it had passed right on through, and the sky was completely clear, and the sun was back out, glaring in evil triumph. Not enough rain to even drench the ground or really cool things off for more than a nanosecond. This was very disappointing, because I thought the unexpected storm was God's way of saying, "I've noticed you, taz, and you know what? I like you, really I do. You're the special one. This storm's for you."

But I guess not.
