Susan Polk's self-employed pathologist-for-hire: Meh. After testifying last week that Susan Polk's husband died from heart failure, not a whole bunch of stab wounds, and after accidentally misplacing his notes on the subject, hired gun John Cooper has decided that, upon reflection, maybe he doesn't want to be involved in the looniest trial ever.

So he simply did not show up to testify today.

Happy Monday, everybody!
Self-employed pathologist? What does that mean, he sets up a roadside stand and waits for a stiff to happen by?

Oh well, then.

*takes out ad in Village Voice reading "SEND ME YOUR TUMORS! BARGAINS! BARGAINS!"

(also my DKT/MC5 tickets arrived in today's mail! Woot! I'm psyched!)

I'm going to be so disappointed when this is over. I love the pup recaps.

Aw, this thing gets better and better. What a messed up situation all around.

These updates are better than Nina Totenberg's reports from the Supreme Court.

Seriously, self-employed pathologist. If it wasn't a murder case, it was be hysterical.

So, was a mistrial part of the plan?

Braiwidth, they've stopped saying how many times Susan Polk requests a mistrial in a given day -- apparently the reporters can't count that high.

Yeah, a mistrial is what she's been going for all along. Hard to tell if that was part of the pathologist's plan, though. Wouldn't it be great if she paid him to mistrial?

maybe. she's been asking for a mistrial every single day.
