There was a white squirrel on Ohio State's Oval when I was in school there. It was mostly ambivalent to the peoplefolk.

We have Golden Squirrels here. They're the colour of coffee with cream in it and supposedly are good luck if you see them (that's a student thing here). I have no idea of the genetics behind them, we have both black and grey squirrels and I'm sure both populations are crazy-inbred as most of the squirrels are mangy and crazy-looking. It could be similar to the Ghost Bears of the North West.

I'd never seen a black skwerl until I went to Toronto. Here's the first one I ever saw.

I saw a fox this morning and thought to myself, 'gee, that's a really big squirrel'. You know, I just wasn't expecting a fox.

me3dia: The squirrel you saw must be a descendant of the white squirrel I regularly saw on campus (in '87) getting the crap kicked out of it by the other squirrels.

I visited Stanford years ago (not as a prospective college thing, but because my folks thought that driving hours to visit a university would be a fun trip) and saw some black squirrels on campus there.

Lots of black squirrels in BC. I like the white one, tho'. Cuuuuuuute!

Lots of black squirrels here in Calgary, they're an introduced species here though and are slowly pushing out the native grey squirrels.
