MetalFilter. Today I saw the video for one of my all-time favorite songs, which I'd never seen before; and heard a couple of songs I'd forgotten about for like a decade, courtesy of AskMe. Some days, I love the internets.
Oh goddamnit, wrong video link. I meant this video.

Metal madness! Yesterday's discussion about hair metal got me all in the mood to listen to old Metallica and Suicidal Tendencies. Wait, ST's not really metal...is it?

Also, I changed my crappy old phone's ring to the South of Heaven riff, played in nokia beeps.

I'm on a metal roll this week!

I have trouble taking Viking metal, or really any "theatrical" metal, seriously. The music is fine in many cases, but the "image" stuff is silly to me. And, Hammerfall, hahahah.

What makes it worse for me, when I tell people I like metal, is that I know they are envisioning hair metal or bands like Gwar or Hammerfall. Totally not my thing.

All that said, I hadn't heard of Edge of Sanity and like these songs. Thanks Wolfdog.

This song is rocking my socks off right now.

Mostly agreed, but Asa Bay is one of a kind, and pretty much invented the genre.

Check back in this thread a little later on.
