Big-box Advertising via Satellite -- Target is painting its corporate brand mark on the roofs of some of its stores to attract attention on Google maps.
Well that's just stupid, the terrorists are definitely going to go after the buildings with the nicely painted bull's eyes on top.

This is actually a pretty good idea. Maybe they'll add another layer to hybrid, satellite and map so its turn-off-able.

That's pretty ingenious. Sure would make Target stand out on Google maps (I wish the restaurant I was trying to find on Google maps the other day had something on their roof!).

But I wonder if it makes financial sense. How expensive is it to paint that roof? How long until Google re-images the building after its painted? And just how many Google geeks are there to bring in some money from this?

/stupid, actuarial-type mind going off

Actually, no they're not. It's been there a while.

The building is right across the freeway from O'Hare.

It's the same principle, and an ingenious idea, though.

I'm enjoying some of the other links off that (new to me) blog. Like this ebay auction.
