Is anyone else having problems with Firefox right now? It keeps not opening and giving me a message that it has shut down. I'm on a Mac, 10.4.3 or so.
It shuts itself down before it even opens.

Everyone in the world is having that exact problem at this very moment. It's chaos! But really, it sounds like a profile problem. Are you using the fancy new Firefox? Extensions are still causing weird things to happen to it. Perhaps you can uninstall any new extensions and see if that helps.

It's the new Firefox, and I totally hate it. If anyone knows how to install Adblock on Opera, and how to create a toolbar, I'd sure love to know it.

And yeah, it still won't open.

I'm going to restart my computer. Perhaps that will solve all of my problems.

Opera with Ad Muncher. Much better.

I'm with you, I gave up on Firefox and switched to Opera a few months ago. It's been great. Installing Adblock on Opera is a little tricky but the toolbar thing is really quite easy. All it takes is Tools > Appearance > Toolbars > Personal Bar. Another option is to convert the "Start Bar" (that drop down thing that appears when you put your cursor in the Address Bar) into a bookmarks toolbar. It's really quite nifty that way. As for Adblock, there's a couple different options all of which are a little technical. And there is also this Adblock device, which from the looks of it is a little less technical. I don't block ads personally so can't vouch for any of the methods.

Thanks, arse_hat and panoptican; I'm giving up Firefox. I've bookmarked this thread. Please keep the advice coming!

interrobang, Opera has been my preferred browser for a number of years (even when I had to pay for it). Read more about it here.

Opera Search Engine INI Editor. A must have utility.

Also, here's what I was talking about with using the "Start Bar" as a bookmarks toolbar. It's a really neat hack in my opinion. It saves a lot of screen real estate. To set it up that way, you need to go to Tools > Appearance > Toolbars. Click on the Start Bar so that there is a yellow box around it and set the style to images only. Or however you like it.

I'm pretty comfortable with Opera at this point so if you run into anything, just post here and I'll try to help you out (as will others I'm sure).

I hate the new version of firefox, for several reasons. I guess we can still download the last version from somewhere?

iconomy, you may need to navigate to it with IE, but old versions of Firefox are here:
