05 December 2005

I really want to start a thread, but I can't think of anything to say.
Me neither, but I'm glad you started this thread because I wanted to post a comment and now I don't feel so silly.

Thank you for validating my post, panoptican. I hereby validate your comment.

I need a nap. Does that help?
posted by chewatadistance 05 December | 14:55
You said it, mud. Whatever it was.

This thread was perfectly necessary. It comes between a thread about kissing and a thread about bitching on your work. It's the middle of a date in reverse.

So how about this weather? Oh, yeah, the Canucks looked back in form last night but they'll probably revert to their lazy play against Ottawa, Friday.
posted by porpoise 05 December | 15:18
I'm sorry, has anybody seen my silence? I had it when I was in here a minute ago...
posted by pliskie 05 December | 15:33
...hmm, that'd odd. It...won't...fit through...the door...

The Two-Headed Calf

Tomorrow when the farm boys find this
freak of nature, they will wrap his body
in newspaper and carry him to the museum.

But tonight he is alive and in the north
field with his mother. It is a perfect
summer evening: the moon rising over
the orchard, the wind in the grass. And
as he stares into the sky, there are
twice as many stars as usual.

I think I'm getting a cold. I spent Saturday night up north and sang "Ring of Fire" and "Tained Love" karoke. It is not typical of me.

Tainted. Stupid head cold . . .

I won two medals in swimming yesterday--first and second.

Of course, I was the only person in my age group in one race and one of two in the second, so my medals are for last place. But I got 'em.

I'm totally posting this as an FPP to Metafilter.

*drags in sleeping bag, liquor and pillows, becomes huge pile of sloth on the floor of the thread*

It's snowing out! Who wants to curl up with me and get toasty?

Congrats on the medals dame!

Also, Paula Dean made the most sickeningly decadent eggnog on her show the other day and this is really the perfect evening for it. I'm surprised that there wasn't any butter in it. Paual Dean puts butter in everything. But there IS bourbon. Which I hate. But not when it's in nog form! Who wants nog?
posted by LeeJay 05 December | 16:32
Nog in the sleeping bag? All of us?
posted by pliskie 05 December | 16:36
All of us. It's a big sleeping bag. It has Gremlins on it. Pile in. And have some nog.
posted by LeeJay 05 December | 16:46
Nog over here, please! I need nog, now!!

And may I add my down comforter, two fluffy blankets and quilt to the pile? Oh, and my pillows. Can't have a proper sloth-off without my pillows.

There, now, see how nice this is?
posted by Frisbee Girl 05 December | 16:48
Radio, y'all.
posted by mudpuppie 05 December | 16:51
*hands huge glass of nog to Frisbee Girl and turns on the radio*

Oh yes. More blankets and pillows. And someone put a log on the fire.
posted by LeeJay 05 December | 16:55
I'll go get some more firewood. We want birch or oak? Which way we going with this?
posted by pliskie 05 December | 17:01
I've been burning my neighbor's cherry tree. It smells sooooo good.
posted by mudpuppie 05 December | 17:05
Good radio mudpuppie! It sounds like home. pliskie, some nice seasoned oak would be lovely. Or some dry fir maybe for the smell.
posted by LeeJay 05 December | 17:09
[Thanks, Lee Jay, I didn't mean to sound so demanding, I was just so excited, you see.]

Great set, pup!

Oh yeah, Nina Simone.
posted by LeeJay 05 December | 17:33
OK, so I'm sitting here looking out the window at the snow falling and for some reason Sway seems to fit my mood perfectly. Thanks, mudpuppie.
posted by LeeJay 05 December | 17:37
Leej, you didn't even need to ask. Here's Sway: http://s30.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=19RLWFXCZQ7AD2ZQ1EDRPK9UIV
