Rube Waddell "plays mongrel-bred swamp music using a bewildering array of traditional-junkyard-hand-whittled-cat gut-burping-outhouse-rusted instruments-the essentials of pure Americana."[More:]
A local group with a penchant for playing sidewalk sets, it's not uncommon to find them performing on the odd street, at the center of an enthusiastic and sometimes confused crowd of listeners.
Great band name; named for a great, but somewhat weird baseball hall of famer.

They do cop to sharing similar interests (booze and babes) with said baseball player.

There's a handful of mp3s on the site, but I'm not sure this is really up your alley.

Looks damned interesting. I'll DL some later.

Ohh, this is great Frisbee Girl, thanks! I am into the second mp3 off of their site and loving it. Why can't there be bands like this playing on my sidewalk?

Ah, jmc, I just had a moment of commentor's remorse: I wasn't trying to imply that I know what you'll like or not. I do know it's not music for everyone and always try to qualify that fact.

LeeJay, there's little cooler than throwing your window open in a moment of "WTF?!?" only to find out it's these guys busting out a set across the street. I just love these guys.

Yep, these guys are awesome. Mannix is a personal favorite of mine.

Rube Waddell is my dad's favorite trivia answer.

Wonderful quirky stuff, somewhere between Tom Waits and Eugene Chadbourne. Thanks!
