Radio Dodgy. Not psychedelic this time, just the usual mix of all sorts of stuff.
Probably just for about an hour or so. I'll try and do requests if I can.

Yay! I missed the last broadcast.

And I'll be playing a new XTC track too
posted by dodgygeezer 12 November | 16:21
So far we've had Super Furry's, Prefuse 73, Beta Band, Kate Bush and The Vandalias amongst others.

Ah, I came in on Elastica. It's ages since I heard this song, it's such fun. Maybe a bit of Wire then too if you've got it somewhere diggable, dodgy dear?
posted by melissa may 12 November | 17:05
Sure. Coming up after Blondie.
posted by dodgygeezer 12 November | 17:07
Yay! Thanks.

And since then we've had Ian Dury, The Smiths, Half Man Half Biscuit, The Jam, New Order and Interpol.
posted by dodgygeezer 12 November | 17:32
Hey dodgy, do you have that James song "Say Something"? A friend put it on a mix for me long ago and I can't remember where it is. I'd love to hear it, if you've got it. And then I'll leave you be!

Really, this is great -- thanks again.
posted by melissa may 12 November | 17:35
I don't have that one but I've dropped in a James track anyway.
posted by dodgygeezer 12 November | 17:38
And thank you!
posted by dodgygeezer 12 November | 17:38
Oh thanks, I've not heard much else of their music, and always meant to. Much appreciated.
posted by melissa may 12 November | 17:40
Oooh, Electric Six and "Gay Bar"! You can be my dj any time, dodgy!
posted by melissa may 12 November | 17:46

I'm sorry, I'll shut up, I swear, but "Dandelion Wine" -- that song just makes me well up, unfailingly.
posted by melissa may 12 November | 18:04
I didn't know ANYONE else had heard of the Vandalias. :D Just tuned in! Looks like you've been playing some great stuff, dodgy.
posted by BoringPostcards 12 November | 18:05
Ah yes, Dandelion Wine is a great song - gets me every time.

And I'm only aware of The Vandalias thanks to the wonderful Little Hits.

Dodgy, believe it or not, the person who runs LH works in a record store right here in my town, and is an extraordinarily nice person, to boot. I'll let him know you approve when I see him next!
posted by melissa may 12 November | 18:13
I'm loving the mix by the way, dodgy.
posted by LeeJay 12 November | 18:13
(aww, LeeJ, just another reason to love you)
posted by melissa may 12 November | 18:14
MM - Oh yes please do. That guy (and his cats) have had me spending money!
posted by dodgygeezer 12 November | 18:17
Oh, dodgy, you've gone and made me tear up. When I was younger my very best friend in the world Karen LOVED Matthew Sweet. She used to play his CD all the time. A few years later when she was pregnant with her first baby she played Matthew Sweet for him. I lost touch with her a few years later and despite my best efforts I haven't been able to track her down. I just realized how much I miss her.

And now with the Colin Blunstone. I was lucky enough to see him live in KC. His voice is still so beautiful, and he's so funny and self-deprecating; I love him, with or without Zombies around.

(and hugs and kleenex, Lee; sounds like we could both use them)

Thanks. I'm really kind of pissed at myself for letting that friendship slip away.
