Let There Be Rock! Just got tickets to see The Drive-By Truckers on the weekend after Thanksgiving...[More:]

Since I have to work right through the rest of the holidays this year, this is my consolation prize to myself. :) It's also cool because DBT are one of those bands that my partner likes as much as I do.

I recommend DBT most highly to any of y'all who haven't heard them... one of THE best bands in the south right now. This goes double for jonmc and Divine_Wino if you fellows aren't familiar with the band.

"Let There Be Rock" (the first link) was written/sung by Patterson Hood, the primary writer in the band, who described the song on a live recording I have as being "about how arena rock and drugs kept me from killing some MFers in middle school." Heh...

The quieter, less-angry singer/writer in DBT is Mike Cooley, whose songs are always standouts on the albums... here's one of his called "Zip City," and was my first of MANY faves from him.

Thank you for the songs, boringpostcards. I'm listening to Let There Be Rock right now and I like it very much. Zip City is all queued up to play next. Hope you have a great time at the show!
