Let There Be Rock! Just got tickets to see
The Drive-By Truckers on the weekend after Thanksgiving...

Since I have to work right through the rest of the holidays this year, this is my consolation prize to myself. :) It's also cool because DBT are one of those bands that my partner likes as much as I do.
I recommend DBT most highly to
any of y'all who haven't heard them... one of THE best bands in the south right now. This goes double for jonmc and Divine_Wino if you fellows aren't familiar with the band.
"Let There Be Rock" (the first link) was written/sung by Patterson Hood, the primary writer in the band, who described the song on a live recording I have as being "about how arena rock and drugs kept me from killing some MFers in middle school." Heh...
The quieter, less-angry singer/writer in DBT is Mike Cooley, whose songs are always standouts on the albums... here's one of his called "
Zip City," and was my first of MANY faves from him.
