Boring Radio is testing.... Anybody awake at 3 AM (eastern) on a Wednesday? [More:]

I think dodgy's excellent instructions have made it all work right the first time, but I'd love to know if anybody can hear it.
Ah great. Yet another reason not to go to bed...

(I can hear it.)

Buffer probs?
posted by mudpuppie 26 October | 03:10
Awesome!! :) Thanks, mudpuppie.
posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 03:11
i can too. you'll need to the following though:

- click the output tab
- click the yellowpages button
- under track title/url, tick "enable title updates"
- tick the two auto tickboxes underneath that

This needs to be done or we in breach of our licensing. Thanks

boring, try skipping the current song...
posted by mudpuppie 26 October | 03:12
Damn, it appears so Maybe posting and broadcasting don't mix

Arrrgh... hang loose, let me try to get it going again (unless you have to bail, which I completely understand)
posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 03:12
(just meant the current song seemed to be freezing...)
posted by mudpuppie 26 October | 03:13
That bit was already done, dodgy

posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 03:14
No, no, will perservere...

Songs that aren't mp3s apparently give problems.
posted by mudpuppie 26 October | 03:15
it's already over? all i got was that little bit?

dodgy, i'll be in irc if you get a chance.
posted by ethylene 26 October | 03:15
The bytes are not ticking by- I don't think that worked.. anybidy hearing Iggy Pop?
posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 03:15
Don't give up yet e :)
posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 03:16
My .WMA files may be the problem...

I'll try again without them
posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 03:18
hey! come to irc!
posted by mischief 26 October | 03:22
Right... IRC and broadcasting will make FIRE spray out of my computer. ;)

So far now the posting and b'cast isn't a problem since I put only MP3s in the playlist... I'll have to re-rip some stuff for the "official" debut, but that's workable.
posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 03:25
Working again!
posted by mudpuppie 26 October | 03:33
if i don't get this summabichin uploader to work, my mix won't make it into this round
posted by mischief 26 October | 03:35
(i like you enought to tough out the madonna, boringpostcards. but only once.)
posted by mudpuppie 26 October | 03:35
stupid kids and their stupid games.
dodgy, i'll just email you and set up a separate room or whatever messenging thingie you use.
i'm too tired to remember my irc protocls right now anyway.

remember to carry grains of salt
as some are not as seasoned as others.
posted by ethylene 26 October | 03:36
Your MP3 tip was the key, I think, mudpuppie.

And oh come on! It's Madonna and the SEX PISTOLS. It makes me laugh every time.
posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 03:37
i'll try laughing next time, bp.

the modest mouse is great, though!
posted by mudpuppie 26 October | 03:42
Since I don't keep most of my "computer music" in MP3 format, I feel like I'm making dinner out of Cheez-Whiz and cole slaw for unexpected guests... :) It's a blast, though.

At least now I know that it works (THANKS so much dodgy!!) and how to plan for future, less potluck broadcasts.
posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 03:49
And DAMN I am impressed at how neatly the song titles show up on the Radio MeCha page... my file tags are a mess, and yet they're al showing up so neat and tidy. I love that.
posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 03:51
Roky! So cool!
posted by mudpuppie 26 October | 03:52
EYE HEART Roky Erickson.
posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 03:56
i tried to listen but i don't have winamp and i think i'm finally getting my mix to upload
posted by mischief 26 October | 04:02
You're kidding? I figured you had to be one of my two listeners! :D
posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 04:03
No, I'm the other one :) Was just thinking about "Radar Love" a couple of weeks ago on a road trip. This is probably the first time I've heard it in ten years.
posted by bmarkey 26 October | 04:05
Heh heh... that is a road trip song, isn't it? Thanks, bmarkey.
posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 04:07
hey! i got it working! i hear MUSIC!!!
posted by mischief 26 October | 04:08
You hear GOR-GEE-ASS music, you mean! :D

(awesome!)

CHEESECAKE
posted by mischief 26 October | 04:10
DANG, I wish the non-MP3s didn't kill the broadcast... Every song I want to tossin is recent stuff I have in .wma format... >:P

posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 04:11
it takes only seconds to rip into mp3
posted by mischief 26 October | 04:14
And, y'know, what doesn't kill ya makes ya stronger. Or so I'm told.
posted by bmarkey 26 October | 04:15
By the way, you're doin' just fine.
posted by bmarkey 26 October | 04:15
I'm afraid to even breathe hard near the computer while it's broadcasting...

Win98? Anyone? Little squirrel in a wheel? Yeah, that's my computer
posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 04:16
oh yeah, i forgot

kinda like my first year XP laptop with too little memory and a too slow buffer into the hard drive
posted by mischief 26 October | 04:20
Almost exactly like that, but five years older
posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 04:22
Having been around for the first incarnation of Gang of Four, it's really kinda strange to see them become... popular. Not bad, just odd. It's always nice to hear them, anyway.
posted by bmarkey 26 October | 04:26
I'm awake, but wish I wasn't.
posted by Eideteker 26 October | 04:27
Man, their live show a few weekends ago just destroyed me... I've been a fan since I heard "Anthrax" in 1984 or so, and yet I had NO IDEA how pummeling they were/are in concert... the two opening acts were young enough to be their children, and they made them look LAZY and TIRED in comparison. :D
posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 04:30
*smashing head on desk because all his Iggy/Stooges stuff is the wrong format*

I so so SO wanted to play "Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell" tonight. >:P

posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 04:32
I'm off to bed. Thanks for the tunes, Mr. Postcards.
posted by bmarkey 26 October | 04:34
Thanks for helping me figure this thing out, bmarkey. :)
posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 04:36
hey, i like this fischerspooner track
posted by mischief 26 October | 04:37
And BTW, if you're still reading, mischief...

I f**king LOST my "AGP" CD!! I've been looking for it for a few weeks now... do you still have those songs handy and could I persuade you to burn me a replacement copy? :)

P.S. Fischerspooner rocks, esp. the new album (that that was from)
posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 04:39
sure, i'll send you that and the mix that didn't get uploaded for MeChat
posted by mischief 26 October | 04:41
i sent you an email
posted by mischief 26 October | 04:44
Thank you, thank you. I finally got around to wanting to load your comp. into my MP3 player, and was like... isn't the disk right there on that pile? Or, uh, on top of the monitor? Or... AAAAAH!

So thank you. :D

posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 04:46
i thought you downloaded it onto your hard drive
posted by mischief 26 October | 04:49
No, I put it all on a CD, which is just NOT here.
posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 04:52
thanks for the tunes, but i gotta go to bed.

later
posted by mischief 26 October | 04:53
Heading into the home stretch here on the BoringRadio experiment... one short song, one long one left to go.
posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 04:53
Did I read that, or what? :D

Hugs to ya, buddy... g'nite
posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 04:54
mudpuppie, this will be the sign-off... but it has about 7 minutes left
posted by BoringPostcards 26 October | 04:57
boringpostcards, it's been great. thanks much!
posted by mudpuppie 26 October | 05:00
Thank YOU! And all the guinea pigs who chimed in. :)

It's been such a blast even when I didn't know what I was doing... I hope the next one will be better.

I'm gonna let this song finish and then kill it.. g'nite!
