I think these tracks are rare and out of print. They were at one pt anyway. They're from 98-99 Road Map, my favorite Calexico release (though I'm pretty sure I'm alone on that one).

Also, why on earth is this excellent band so bloody boring live? I've seen them live 3 times and walked out each time. Saw Giant Sand once and they smoked. Saw Gelb by himself and he was awesome. But Calexico have zero stage presence. Very strange.

I also have them singing the Ballad of Cable Hogue in French but I have no idea if it's rare or if everyone has it so I won't post it.

Still haven't gotten the new Iron & Wine / Calexico release yet but will as soon as my emusic queue comes back around.

Here's a nice cover, which is also out of print. (Hint: lyrics: "the moon is falling / my wounds are calling / my head is bleeding / and i'm a duck / the lake is cracking / it hears me quacking / fuck the land / and two, if by me" -- though *I* always sing it as "fuck the land in two, if by me".)

You may now bow before me.

I'm bowing right here, I am.

Dobbs, why aren't you in the metachat last.fm group? or do you have a secret name?

I'd like the french one... I love it when they work with Francoiz Breut.

Someone else with absolutely zero stage presence: Van Morrison. I don't think he ever acknowledged the crowd or spoke to us once. I went to see him a really long time ago with a date who was reviewing the concert for a newspaper, and it was the most boring concert ever. Sitting at home listening to a CD of his songs would have been more exciting.

matildaben, I only have it on my iPod, which is home, and I'm at work. When I get home I'll send it your way unless dobbs does first.

Weird. News to me. I don't remember ever signing up there.

*goes to look*

Oh, I see it's connected to audioscrobbler, which I signed up for ages ago and then quickly forgot about.

calexico was one of the first things i downloaded ever. just a single song at the time, so thanks, dobbs. i have only barely been able to listen to the samples of the last one people have posted or sent through here.

also, as that thread of yours ended up being so long and popular, i didn't think i needed to send an email.
have you decided to proceed with your sewing project?

*considering sewing something myself for halloween as i just begged off stuff tonight*

ethylene, I'll go ahead with it but probably not till the end of November as I'm thinking of doing the dang Nanowrimo thing.

Thanks, greasy, but I'll just grab it on emusic. I like sharing my stuff but generally pay for everything I own, which is silly, I guess, but for some reason I feel guilty unless it's something I can't find. Thanks, tho!

greasy: so, very clearly, is mine. shoot it on over if you like (same goes for the quasi, safetyfork!). it would be nice to have some uncrappy email these days.

dobbs: i'm saving up stuff to do the nano too, as i had to remit myself last year. i don't know if i'll do the same story or not.
i haven't read that whole thread yet but if i find something remiss, i'll let you know.
also, if i find deals on materials, as there are things you can use that are cheap, recycled and beneficial.
