I think Tom Friedman made history in his NYT column the other day--actual links to other newspapers in a newspaper Op-Ed not about computers or blogging? A blogvertorial?
the 3.0 etc deal doesnt make any sense...this is the first I've ever heard about it. Every prayer to Allah explicitly denies the existence of other gods...

Really? So you aren't aware that Islam considers Jesus the greatest prophet apart from Mohammed? That their faith also has it's roots in Abraham? Nor that they consider Jews and Christians "People of the Book" - worshippers of the same God but without the "new improved" wisdom?
Right, Muslims belive that Jesus was a prophet, just like Muhammed. They just think that over the hundreds of years his teachings were perverted by the various authors of the bible, and that Muhammed recived a 'clarified' version. The fact that Muhammed wrote the Koran himself, and that in most places it isn't even translated means that it could be considered more authoritve. I guess.
actually, i am embarassed to admit, I was aware, but I didnt know that Islam was the "new improved version". oh well, back to more reading. Thanks Jimbob.
i wasn't aware at all, jimbob--i know pitifully little about Islam. I knew they had roots in Abraham, and that us Jews were considered the "people of the book", but not that Christians were too.
Frisbee, it's so immensely fascinating--i can't wait for 49up! : >
