My first ever MeCha dream [More:]someone gave me this Ajax application that was like google maps with the zooming in and drag and pan, but it was by county and you could find your relatives. It stopped working and turned into just a piece of cardboard with a map printed on it. There were still some bugs to be worked out. But I was browsing around and there was a blog entry by jonmc called "How the Shins Let Me Down". I was reading it but it was still on cardboard and I couldn't see all the comments. Somehow this evolved into a RL friend of mine going to the post office and sending me an envelope with a bunch of zines where I could finish reading the comment. She appended a note: "This will help you take care of your rabbit." I was confused because I don't have a rabbit.
It's 3 am and I'm going back to bed.

I kind of want to read "How the Shins Let Me Down" now.

I used to have chess dreams (NOT, as I am taking great lengths to point out, Chess dreams.) but recently most of my dreams have involved AAA batteries coming to life and driving my car and large bald men, dancing in a junkyard give a flower they find to a little girl.

Also, there is a physical sensation that I feel in my hands that only manifests itself in dreams. Anyone else have this happen? It's quite hard to describe.

I had a Mofi dream the other night where I went into the monitor: was just sucked in, which at the time seemed perfectly natural, like, of course, how else do I get around in here?

LeeJay: You can read The Shins Will Change Your Life.

Yeah, I think the title was kind of inspired by that blog.

you all dream about me way too much. I'm really not that interesting.

Also, I've never heard The Shins, and from what I've heard, I wouldn't expect much of them, so there's no way they could let me down.

I just had one too! Wierd. I think it was the moonbird close call thread that did it, and thinking again about living in and around Asheville, and so then I had a dream that I spent the day hanging out with mygothlaundry since I think she is from there, or at least her picture was at the Asheville Meet-up. We talked about Hot Springs, the town I used to live in, and then we went to a place where you took your silver-ware and they cleaned it for you and polished it, but they had no change and so there was all kinds of trouble getting the bill ($4) paid since I only had a five and three ones. mygothlaundry was there the whole time.

Yeah when I woke up I thought, jonmc wouldn't listen to something as modern and twee as the Shins. Somehow I think the thought of you as a music zinester was somehow influenced by the Chuck Klosterman thread, though.
posted by matildaben 13 July | 13:22
Heh. I will listen to old twee shit like the Poppy Family, though.

In scarier news those scary dolls The Bratz have put out a "rock," album (we just recieved it here at work). It might be worth picking up for the collectbility or weird factor. But this frightens me because it devalues rock and roll, and if they become popular, our young women will imitate their idols by removing their noses.

...and enhugening their heads, which is bad Ju-Ju.

But Jon couldn't the Shins have let you down by like, not picking you up at the airport or just letting the dishes pile up in the sink? Fucking lazyass slacker Shins.

The Shins have let me down by James Mercer not being my boyfriend yet. (Yeah, I know he's no greek god, but scrawny and literate is my type.)

Can I buy you a drink?
posted by jonmc 13 July | 14:08
Yeah I live in Asheville & damn, omiewise, you ought to know to have exact change when you get your silverware done! Cool, my first mecha dream appearance.
Remember, though, it was only me if I was extremely beautiful mysterious and glamourous. kthx.

I wouldn't have recognized you otherwise!

I've had dreams that were populated by Matteo and Jonmc. It's true. Sexy dreams too. Of course there was also a naked leprechaun, a cabin, thigh high boots, a bartender named Kumbala, the cast of the partridge family, and a shower scene where apparently to get a drink, one had to bathe with the bartender. So, ya know...my dreamland is a very strange place.

But I'll say that in my dreams, Matteo kisses dreamily, and Jon makes you feel all warm and squishy when he puts his arms around you. (Awhhh.) Of course, that could be the flannel...

I've got to admit some serious envy at this point. Y'all are having sexy MeCha dreams and the only thing I seem to be able to muster are pathetic scavenger hunt themed dreams that end up with one of the 22 year old guys that I manage kissing me in some laughably obvious Aha! 'twist' at the end of the dream. Ew. And they all kiss like Hoovers, their mouths these sucking voids with disembodied tongues squirming around. EWWWWWWW!!! And, no, stuck on a desert isle, I would not kiss any of these children.

For the sake of my (and matteo's) sanity, please tell me there was a woman involved.

I know (and I'm flattered *fans self, wipes brow). The sentence was just too irrestible. You know better than to feed me straight lines, honey.
