This song introduced me to Jimi Hendrix, and it was the version from "Live at Winterland". Since I'm imprinted on that version, I consider it to be the best version, but I also like the version on the English release of "Are You Experienced?". The American studio version is just too bouncy.
It’s an art-installation in the town where I live (I’ve written a bit about it here). But it’s completely off-topic, my apologies to Cryptical E.: Hendr1x r0x! I will listen to that track later when not obstructed by my offices’ mp3-obstructing firewall.
dabitch—It is (and I am) in Karlskrona: if you do plan a trip, bear in mind that the main train line is closed between here and Kristianstad (the line is being electrified), but they’re running a replacement bus-service. And by all means drop me a line so we can meet up for a coffee.
I remember the first time I heard this track (I was 15 and still living with my parents), and like Interrobang, it was the Winterland version. Without the slightest exaggeration, it changed my life, though I'd be hard pressed to stay whether for better or worse.
I'd like to thank CE for reminding me how deeply I love the blues, Jimi Hendrix, music and life - more or less in that order. Many tabs of shite acid were consumed between my friends and I during our late teens to the accompaniment of the Jimi Hendrix Experience Live at Winterland and at the ripe old age of 30, I've got to say that I'm not sorry at all.
