I could frankly, personally do without Dios on MeFi in general, and not just because I don't agree with his viewpoints - because I pretty much always do disagree with him. But there's plenty of other I disagree with consistently, but I wouldn't ever say "Eh, just go away." about them, and I don't know if I even would do so about Dios.

The posturing he engages in is extra sucky, but I wouldn't say he was alone in that regard. It's just that it seems like he only does the posturing thing, and little else.

This thread is as good as any other place for laundry-airing. There's no rule about not airing laundry, and if you care so much about keeping the drama out of somewhere, why can't you just keep it out of MeFi, if you're going to keep it out of anywhere?

Multiple times I've seen you call for someone to modify their behavior to X standards of decency - while in the same sentence or paragraph you've willfully blasted that same standard all to hell with your own words. No way. The interesting links & discussion are what bring me to Metafilter, but the petty grudge matches and drama are what cause me to stay. Some people have no idea how to have fun.

Very true, dame - I enjoy MeTa more than MeFi partly because it is the "community" part of "community weblog", but also because it is fun to watch people make fools of themselves and get their knickers in a twist over petty perceived slights, but that doesn't mean we care who is right or wrong or that it does anything but make those involved seem a little more petty and small each time.
