Too trivial for AskMe: Does anyone know why there hasn't been a DVD release of either If... or O Lucky Man!? It seems the only one of Lindsay Anderson's "Mick Travis" films to get the DVD treatment is the infinitely inferior Britannia Hospital.

It took several years to locate the master tapes of the original soundtrack recordings for the film. Warner's released the album on CD in the mid-90s, but when the master tapes were finally secured, it was discovered that they contained some unreleased tracks!
From what I can tell, clearances for music rights are one of the major reasons for holding up all sorts of movie and TV projects. Reportedly a dispute over the soundtrack was the main reason there was never a sequel to Buckaroo Banzai, for example. The resyndication of WKRP in the 1990s was butchered by changed (sometimes nonsensically, as it was often integral) song choices; and yet again on DVD.
