#bunnies is multiplying like… well, bunnies. For those who don't, or can't, IRC, there is now a
#bunnies discord server!
→[More:]
REMINDER: #bunnies is not in any way affiliated with MetaChat, it's just a place to hang out. Don't bother site admins with #bunnies questions!
With that out of the way:
🎉 It's the
#bunnies discord server! 🎉
When you first join up, you won't see much. We've got an airlock set up for security purposes, but once you've agreed to the Guidelines and let us know who you are, a mod will let you in as soon as they're able. This way, you should feel safer if, say, you want to share pictures of your pets. Because of course we've got a channel for pet pics; it's practically discord law. There are also some voice/media channels if you want to share music (remember MetaChat Radio?) or videos with folks. All in all, it's not a bad little space.
Dang, you mean I gotta create yet another account?
…No? Leaving aside the fact that having the most logins/-ons is the only way to win the Internet, some #bunnies folks just wanted an alternate way to hang out. And if you're already on discord, maybe you'll stop by and catch up with some folks you might not have chatted with recently.
Can I invite friends from other discord servers?
Right now, the server's just for us. Once we're sure things are stable and secure, we'll revisit that.
So… no more IRC channel?
Nah, the channel's staying. Social media platforms come and go, but IRC will never die. In fact, there may be ways to sync the IRC channel with a channel on the discord server. If that's even something we want. TBD.
That's about it, for now. I'm not sure the MechaWiki is still working, but maybe a site admin can add the
permanent discord invite to the sidebar next to the IRC info (unless that causes more problems than it's worth).
