23 March 2019

There may be Northern Lights tonight viewable from Northern US. More, More, More.
I'm in Maine, and the sky may be clear tonight, which it usually isn't.
They are calling for clear skys tonight but I think there is to much light pollution here to see them. I haven't seen the lights for more than 20 years, since I lived up north.

There was too much glare as I thought there would be.

arse_hat, I heard that the activity wasn't as much as they thought it would be, so you might not have been able to see them anyway.

which makes me feel better about not hopping in the car and driving up there. (We had a serious discussion in my house about it, but decided not to!)

Back in Northern Ontario we could could sometimes see the lights just as dusk set in. I do miss that.

Some day, I may retire and still be healthy enough to travel. Seeing the northern lights is on my list of things to experience.

mightshould, this is one of those moments when I realize how I can miss seeing how lucky I have been in some ways. For a lot of people seeing the lights are a once in a lifetime desire and yet I have been able to watch them countless times. It's easy to take things for granted.

It was a complete bust. The flare didn't arrive, all was quiet.

I've seen them a couple times, always by accident, always amazing. I gotta get my passport renewed and go see them in Canada. Or Iceland.

arse_hat; taking thing for granted is how we're wired... I grew up at the coast and currently live 15 mins from my door to toes on the shore (including parkung time). I made it to the beach once last year.

You're reminding me to get there more often! Thanks.
