Everyone staying warm? Wind is howling outside right now, and it's going to get worse as the day goes on. Everyone stay safe!
I'm in Georgia, and while 25 degrees is pretty remarkable for us, it's *nothing* compared to what many others are going through. Please stay warm and safe!
We are due a light dusting of snow tonight, and a low of -3C. So far the south of England has got away with it lightly. I don't even have the heating on tonight - I've put on my thick, fleecy pyjamas and I'm warm enough. I've been in NYC when they've had a polar vortex, so I don't envy you all in North America. Stay warm!
Here on the Central California Coast, at 3:15PM it's +61F/+16C. We're expecting intermittent rain the next 5 days which should lower the temps about 5F/3C, but otherwise the big freeze is totally missing us. I'd invite you all to my neighborhood but there's a housing shortage and rents are going sky high. The price you pay for weather.
Cats are themselves always. Cold cold night. Minus 20 something with serious wind chill. I have been keeping the bowls full for the past couple days so that whenever a cat shows they will be able to eat immediately.
The food has four different shapes of kibble. I have not tried them but I assume each shape tastes different.
This morning all the bowls were left with the tiniest round bits of food. Even in the worst conditions they take the time to pick out the bits they don't like.
I once had three cats at the same time - two I'd had from 6 weeks old, a brother and sister. The other came to me 2 years after I'd got the kittens, when he was a year old, a stray from the neighbourhood. The two I'd raised from babies were All About The Food. But Ricky, the stray, wanted love and attention above everything else, and was so grateful whenever I gave him a cuddle or a scritch. He was 20 when he died. He was a great cat. I don't think he ever forgot he'd been homeless and on the streets.
