I think it's unfortunate that, when referencing dystopian or absurdist scenarios, people often mention 1984 and Brave New World--at most Kafka--but Catch-22 is left out of the discussion. It deserves more cultural recognition.

Its recognition might rise now that George Clooney is gonna produce a miniseries.

I kinda left the thread alone after my comment but in retrospect I wish I'd mentioned that if someone can't check out the (admittedly huge) book they should check out the movie, such as this clip on why Italy won World War 2.

Ok, so I just looked it up and the paperback is 453 pages. Weird. I don't remember it being a long book. I guess I really got involved with the story.
