Weekend? [More:]They are calling for mid 30s (mid 90s F) with humidex in the high 40s. I suspect all I'll do this weekend is melt.

Any plans?

Gardening. Spring plants have flowered and died back, so I need to tidy those up, cut them back and plant a few late summer flowering plants. I also need to hoe my vegetable bed, as those little shoots of weeds are poking through again.

I also need to buy food, as I was scrabbling around for something to eat tonight. I ended up having hummous with an apple. And tomorrow there'll be an evening walk in the forest with a friend who has two small dogs.

Gah, weeds. Pulled many this evening and will do the same tomorrow evening.

Our weekend is starting off on a low note, sadly. We're having our sweet, 17-year-old cat, Luke, euthanized this morning. He started shutting down last week and it's been rapidly downhill ever since. Gonna be a sad weekend here, I'm afraid.

I just finished mowing my backyard. 100º F. The heat used to really bother me but I've acclimated to it.

I was edging the front yard when my neighbor drove up and said he was planning on mowing both front yards, if that was okay with me. I told him I'd do his edging if he was going to mow my yard. His doctor told him that pushing a lawnmower is exactly the kind of exercise he needs to work the scar tissue out of his knee.

I'm so sorry, Thorzdad. It's never easy, even when it's the only thing to do.

Damn Thorzdad I'm sorry to hear that.

Hugs Thorzdad and family.

I need to mow. Was going to mow Wed after work and found it impossible without installing water wings on the pushmower because there was a lake in my yard from 5 inches of rain that day. It didn't rain at all where I work.

So mowing has to happen. And there are always weeds. The futile attempt at tomatoes is ending after the recent rains and hail the almost ripe ones are rotting on the vines and the more green ones have hail pitting that will also probably cause rot. Le sigh.
