Friday question NOT from the book of questions So, what was the worst haircut you've ever gotten? Describe, please.
I have curly, curly hair and grew up in neighborhoods where everyone else's was stick straight, so I have had many haircut disasters. The hands down all time winner was my "gypsy shag." Those were questionable haircuts on everyone, but absolutely insane on me, as every little swatch of my hair curled and frizzed and generally made me look electrocuted.

A few years ago I let my hairdresser cut my hair into a straight, chin-length bob with a fringe (which Americans inexplicably call bangs). My hair's just too fine to have a style with no layering. I hated it. But it was an easy enough job next haircut to get some layers cut into it.

A few years ago a hairdresser gave me this weird mullety pixie with the back all wispy and thinned out to death. It scarred me off the thinning/texturizing sheets for LIFE.

I don't know about a bad haircut, but I once dyed my hair black and it was a disaster. I have very dark brown hair, so I didn't think it would be a big deal, but it looked AWFUL. And worse than that, I somehow missed some large sections of my hair, which remained my natural hair color. I went to work the next morning with my hair in a bun, and took a long lunch and went to a salon for emergency help. They stripped my hair (which made it BRIGHT orange) then dyed it back to the natural dark brown color. I returned to work and I don't think anyone even noticed that my hair was different.

The mullet that my biological excuse for a mother forced on me in junior high.

Like amro, I dont' think I've really had a bad cut (well, there was the one that made me look like 2000 Hillary Clinton, but I dealt with that quite easily) but the color...

When in high school I loved giving myself those semi-permanent rinses. I have naturally kind of mousy hair, but it lightens up in summer. I wrongly estimated how much dye it would take on a few times and ended up with hair exactly the same color as Peggy Bundy.

Every single one. No exceptions. I have curly frizzy hair that no stylist has ever been able to figure out how to cut -- Every cut either looks stupid from the get-go or is something I can't replicate myself after the first shower (I had one of those gypsy shags too, bearwife!). Rather than have to spend hours of my life using dreadful things like rollers and "product," I just quit getting my hair cut at all for the last 20 years -- I cut some bangs myself and then just let the rest of it go all to heck if it wants. Since it's long, I can pin it up whenever it bugs me.

Probably way back as a kid when my grandmother cut my hair. Other than that I usually didn't care much and just wanted to get the hair out of my eyes. A few years ago I just gave up on hare and get a tight buzz cut every three weeks and now wish that I'd started doing that twenty years ago. I love not having to worry about bed head or hat head or conditioner or whatnot.

I once went to a new chinese hairdresser.
Only when I was sitting in the chair did I notice the strange empty atmosphere of the place. And the awkward way that the woman was cutting my hair.
The hair cut was atrocious; uneven all around.

So it must have been a money laundering front.

This one a few years ago sure didn't win any prizes.

When I was in 4th grade my mom cut my hair SHORT before I want to camp (I understand why (now) because there was no way I could or would have cared to keep the rat's nest of tangles out of it back then)...

I didn't realize how truly awful it was until school pictures next year since I never looked in the mirror at that age. Readers, I looked like a frog! I've never had it cut since then, other than a bit of trimming to even up the ends.

Since late teens I've always worn my hair pulled back in a knot regardless of fashion because I don't have any inclination to care for it.

Every once in a while I seriously consider a short cut but decide NOT, since I don't think I can implement hair care into my life now, due to easy habit and I'm afraid of the possible result.
