Cat question because who doesn't like a pet question: why are all my cats so soft?[More:] they've got nothing in common except that they've accidentally all turned out black, and I wouldn't have really noticed it except people always comment on it with surprise, that he or she is "so soft!"

If I think about it, I don't think other cats are usually nearly as soft. They've been different breeds, eaten very different food, from different areas, indoor and outdoor, health-- nothing the same, so, anyone? Theories?
Oh, but this one has unspeakable breath, which was never a problem even with the one who's teeth i never bothered to check or clean because I didn't even know that was a thing. Her teeth are fine and the vets never mention anything. This last one was I think too intimidated to do anything and she still needs to get her shots and whatever now that her issues seem better, so I'll ask again.

It's just the effect you have on cats.
Even the most bristly ones.

Some breeds are softer. Like some brands of toilet paper.

I agree with Obscure Reference - we had a tortoiseshell, and she was the softest cat ever.

And some bunnies are also softer than others! Our Rex is super soft.
