The Dude, Jeff Bridges, likes to spend time around San Luis Obispo (and we like having him around). He tested out playing frontman to a band, appropriately named "Jeff Bridges and the Abiders", at a local club and got enough encouragement to take it on the road last summer, then returned in February to a larger venue, the semi-historic Freemont Theater (where he has appeared on the big screen many times), as a lead-up to our annual Film Festival where he was Guest of Honor. (Well, he and Adam West, but that was because a tongue-in-cheek documentary about the ex-Batman premiered at the fest). Good times were had by all. Now, if we can just get him to form a supergroup with Yes's Jon Anderson (who lives a few miles down the road from me) and Weird Al Yankovic (who went to college at Cal Poly), that would be awesomely odd...
