Ask Mecha: dumb question about houseplants... [More:]
I want a potted plant like this. My dumb question: is the plant/soil directly in that ceramic pot or is there a liner of some sort? How does drainage work w/o getting the table wet?

Ok I figured out to google "double potting" and got my answer.

FWIW, I have potted plants in containers without drainage holes not in double pots, but instead using gravel at the bottom and perlite and watering carefully to not saturate the whole pot.
