After 10 years there's a new Donna Tartt novel out right now! The Goldfinch →[More:]It was even on national radio. The novel is only available in that subtle refined language that only a select few speak: Netherlandish.

The Dutch are reading it right now.
Maybe a nice opportunity for americans to learn Dutch?

To be honest I have no idea why she does this.
Unfortunately I'm a snob who doesn't read German, French and English authors in translation. So I'll have to wait as well. Even though the book is available to me in my native language. :-)

I will read this, but I was desperately disapointed by The Little Friend, such a let-down after the wonderful Secret History. So I'm not building my hopes up that it'll be a great book.

Reviews are mixed. But there's agreement that the first part (of the 900 pages) is great. Here's a review in English by the major paper NRC.

There's a Donna Tartt - The Goldfinch review in the NYT. It is very positive unlike most Dutch reviews.
Here's an article in The Guardian that's basically just an announcement.
Funny that they make no mention of the reception in NL.
