Invent me a cocktail? So we acquired a bottle of cranberry rum, of all things. I have no idea how to drink it. Usually if I'm drinking liquor I'm drinking gin and tonic. But I like anything cocktail-y. Invent me something? Kisses!
Dark & (cran)Stormy -- cran rum and ginger beer, on ice.

I'm kinda wondering if you could do some sort of Cosmo variation, too. You'd want lime, which should work well with rum, and citrus of some sort. Triple sec/cointreau works for a cosmo, but the rum would be sweet already, so maybe just lemon or orange juice?

(And mudpuppie says hi!)

Hi 'pode! Mudpuppie here. I'm thinking a ginger/lime simple syrup, then maybe some orange juice or blood orange juice. On the rocks, with a splash of soda.

Kisses back. I'll pass the computer back to occhiblu now. Come west sometime. :)

I looked in my cocktail book and found this...

Old San Juan
1 1/2 ounces gold rum
1/2 ounce cranberry juice
1 ounce fresh lime juice

Rim a cocktail glass with a lime wedge, combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, shake well and strain into the glass. Squeeze the wedge into the drink and drop it in.

... so I guess my book seconds occhiblu's suggestion.

Hi mudpuppie!

quoting Douglas Adams (at the end of Towel Day):
"It is a curious fact, and one to which no one knows quite how much importance to attach, that something like 85% of all known worlds in the Galaxy, be they primitive or highly advanced, have invented a drink called gin and tonic, or jynnan tonnyx, or gee-N’N-T’N-ix, or jinond-o-nick, or any one of a thousand or more variations on the same phonetic theme. The drinks themselves are not the same, and vary between the Sivolvian “chinantomnig” which is ordinary water served at slightly above room temperature, and the Gagrakackan “tzin-anthony-ks” which kills cows at a hundred paces; and in fact the one common factor between all of them, beyond the fact that the names sound the same, is that they were all invented and named before the worlds concerned made contact with any other worlds."

Hmmm....

Cranberry Rum ...with A touch of ginger liquor, mixed with plan seltzer water. It's bubbly like a G&T and I bet it'll taste like cranberry ginger ale!

Cranbery rum, cran-raspberry juice, triple-sec and lime juice.

These all look very promising. Thanks, all!

This all sounds delicious. Also, occhi and mudpuppie, if I'd read this earlier I'd have been tempted to grab some stuff from the garden and zoom right up to see you.
