I got the job. →[More:]
Thanks to all of you for your advice on suit wearing and especially to The Pink Superhero for the resume assistance. I tell my current employer to shove it, I mean give my notice, tomorrow afternoon.

That's what my mom said to do, end of day on a Friday.

Hello being able to:

- have insurance
- actually afford my bills
- work a 40 hr week
- get paid for overtime
- do a job i am good at
- have vacation time
- be able to afford to go somewhere on said vacation time

and being much much happier.

YAY!!!! Congratulations!

Before you give your notice, go through your desk and put together a folder of whatever personal papers you might have. And bring a drive and save whatever is on your office computer that you want to take with you (projects or whatever that belongs to you). Just be prepared that even if you give 2 weeks notice they might want you to leave right away. I have seen this happen many times.

I'm so excited i cant sleep! I'm only giving one week notice since to stay longer would mean that i'd start something and then it would just sit there for two months and then they'd call with questions. So i think it's a clean break to finish my current project next week.

Talked to the dude who has been my ally and he is supportive of my decision. He is looking for a new job too and is just so genuinely happy i'm getting out of there.

So now i've been reading askme advice about starting a new job :)
Much more exciting than searching for advice on "toxic workplace".

Plus i get to go shopping now. New place is not all "unshowered hoodie w cap".

And there's girls there! Tech girls! So that's also exciting. I like my geeky boys, but geez it gets lonely sometimes.

so for the lulz of the day...the printer is in the exec asst's office. i thought she was out when i walked by her door, looked dark.

so i print out letter of resignation. go to get it. door is closed.
there's an interview going on with the owner of the company! hahaha!
i know we've been looking for people anyways so that part wasn't a surprise.

i know she won't say anything but it's kinda funny knowing i just did that.
