Metachat made me cry! [More:]
I got home today to find a parcel waiting for me. It was a book. This book. Yes, despite my getting some (many) of the details wrong, some wonderful person tracked it down and sent it to me.

It's called Cat's Kingdom and although I hadn't remembered it exactly, my memory hadn't deceived me about the wonderful details I had recalled - Blossom the little kitten who died when she was young, and the cats sitting on the horse. I'll scan some pictures tomorrow and upload them - this book is absolutely wonderful.

I'm so overwhelmed with thanks to whoever sent this to me. You've no idea how much this means.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

Is anyone going to fess up or will this be a Secret Santa gift?
It wasn't me. But hurrah, hurrah, hurrah, Generous Secret Santa Bunny! You deserve 3 cheers!

That's so very cool! (also not me as I'm pretty bad at digging up my own long forgotten books no less someone else's :)

I called the booksellers to see if they could tell me who sent the book, but it was ordered via Amazon and so they only had my delivery address.

Here are some of the photos in the book.

You're welcome, Senyar. You've meant a lot to me over the years and it was the least I could do. I'm also very glad it is the book you remembered. What triggered my purchasing it for you is that I have the same book. Although some of the details were off, I had a feeling it was the same book; I'm glad I was right. And hey, even if it wasn't the same one, it's still an awesome book. Win win!

Oh, Deborah, that's so, so kind of you. I'd remembered the photo of the cats on the horse so clearly that I thought all the photos were b&w, which is why I got the age of the book wrong. Even for a mid-80s book it has a old-timey feel to it, which I love.

After the Car-Repair-That-Ate-My-Christmas, this book is an unexpected treat.

That's the sweetest thing! Thanks for sharing the joy, Senyar --- and for creating that joy, deborah.

How sweet... I love kittehs. (What happened to Blossom? : (

Blossom died of cancer, Pips, before she was a year old. :-(

Oh, how sad. She sure was a lively little kitteh. I remember when I was a kid, my birth mother always had a houseful of pets (not always well cared for, I'm afraid), including the occasional litter of mewing little kittehs, which I just adored. It was chaos, but it was fun.
