Weekend Chores! Up and at 'em! Here's my at-minimum list. What's on yours?[More:]

Laundry
Pack for work trip tomorrow
Clean kitchen
Go to Costco for stuff. (Undetermined)
Clean out fridge
Pay car registration fee*

*Yesterday I was a rock star and got my car inspected, brakes fixed, and an oil change!
I'm going to use UnFuckYourHabitat to do the work. Whee! Love that app.

Laundry? Laundry not a bad idea.

My at-minimum for studying this weekend is to write two pages of notes. Self, I ask very little of you. Have at it.

Have a nice weekend people! (:

First break.
Accomplished: Dishes unloaded and loaded into dishwasher. Trash lying around on surfaces recycled or tossed. Stovetop wiped down. Registration fee paid.

Pilates = done! Did 15 minute video from Blogilates.com (baby is napping). I love her!
Tator Tot Casserole in the crockpot (but we have to get milk first!)
Get milk - was hoping not to leave the house today but may need to!
Swiffer floors
Re-arrange furniture a bit to make more room
Baby photo shoot for family Christmas card; I got a stroke of genius this week and have my idea all ready!

Drink coffee.
Get air in bike tires.

"Make test turkey"

Yum, plus you can freeze the carcass stock to use later in the month.

This week the corner diner did their own turkey run-through, and they nailed it. Their giblet stuffing was superb.

Furniture re-arranged.
Floor swiffered.
The house does not seem so horribly cluttered today and that is making me happy.
Stynxno is going to bring home milk around 2, so I don't have to go out.
Baby is napping again, what to do with myself! I could shower, but don't really want to.....alas, I probably should.

Laundry
Tidying up
Vacuuming
Making soup
Preparing application for promotion at work (a 500-word piece)

I have friends in Ohio who cook their turkey in a (clean) metal trashcan that's lowered into a 4ft deep pit where it rests on a bed of hot coals. More coals are piled all around the sides and on top until it's completely covered. The coals are topped up over the next 24 hours. Very labour-intensive, but I'm told it's delicious.

Oh yes, leaves. I forgot leaves. How could I forget The Fucking Leaves.
posted by Senyar 10 November | 12:27
Get seeds for my bird.
Grease garage door.
posted by Splunge 10 November | 12:37
Painting. There's a garage full of lumber that I need to get a coat of paint on before the carpenters put it up as they build the porch.

So far:

Made two-casserole dish pinto popovers, a big batch of meatballs and a garden salad. And did clean up.

Did the week's laundry.

Still to do:

Dust and vacuum the house, clean the bathroom, clean the litter box, and work some more on the renos, which means working on the paint touch-ups.

--ordered groceries (reserved the delivery date over a week ago -- last weekend was sold out after the storm)
--ordered some nice grass fed, free range rib eye steaks (about $8 a pound -- not bad) to go with the truffle butter Jon picked up (I count on him for the gourmet touches); should be yummy, with some au gratin potatoes, corn
--when I cook, Jon'll usually do the dishes (I hate dishes)
--laundry (I get it together and put it away, and Jon takes it to the laundromat -- the "heavy lifting," as he says)
--try to find gas Monday so I don't have to schlepp through a 3+ hour round-trip train commute next week (it took me 2 and 1/2 hours to get to work Friday); NYC has an odd/even rationing system in place now (my license plate ends in 6, so I can go on even dates), but there are still long lines and a limited supply, and unfortunately I don't have enough gas left to wait in line for gas; meh
--make up a couple reading quizzes for the kiddies next week, grade a few papers
--does napping count as a chore?

(pinky -- tater tot casserole? sounds tasty -- recipe? : )

The Duggars (they of the 47 Kids & The Clown Car Vagina) feed their kids on tater tot casserole.

Wow, Senyar. That family site is um, just wow.
posted by octothorpe 10 November | 14:49
Oooo... thanks, TPS! I don't have a slow cooker, but I see you can make it in the oven, too. I'll definitely try this... looks yummy. (Luckily I don't have to feed 50! :)

Another thanks for the recipe!

Teeps, how come your baby naps all the time and doesn't need to sleep with you touching him? My baby wakes up if I'm not within three inches of him. Chuh.

Laundry
Bathe baby
Bathe self
Shopping
Cooking
Dusting
Vacuuming
Email in-laws
Skype mom
Call lab to track down some routine test results (I hate you, Kaiser)

Husband will do shopping and cooking, thank god, and carry the laundry up and down the stairs.

The rest I will have to do with this little monkey attached to me! (Lucky he's so cute.)

It took time! He's getting better at napping alone, particularly since he started daycare and they work with him on that. Although yesterday Maria (one of the workers) said he was sleeping on her and he wouldn't let her put him down!

Today: Celebrate my birthday.
Tomorrow: Continue going through water damaged items to see what can be saved and what must be thrown out.
posted by Obscure Reference 10 November | 18:40
Happy Birthday!

I received a mass email about evacuation compensation. It didn't really apply to me, but I want it if the crane's not down by the time I come back...and I'll have to put most of my stuff in storage.

For now:
Put stuff I bought in TO in the car.
Do laundry
Pack.

i had lofty plans for today but got sidetracked reading Divergent by Veronica Roth and napping. i did leave the house to get some groceries and new socks tho.

tomorrow i have to finish an assignment for a grad school class and get caught up on work since i took off friday. (i went for a Shop and Spend day with a good friend. god did we need that.)

and cook. i'm going to try to make a sweet potato/sausage/egg casserole and a meatloaf. i like things i can slice and reheat for breakfast and lunch for the week. i get lazy about cooking around tuesday each week.

and laundry. jeez. i have a lot to do tomorrow. good thing i took the nap today.

Laundry (sensing a theme; we have Sunday and Monday as our designated building laundry days, so non-negotiable)
Exercise
Clean kitchen (inc. fridge) thoroughly to 'lay a base' for Thanksgiving
Clean office, throw old papers away, reorganize
Set aside a pile of dry cleaning to take in Tuesday
Do homework - weekly reading and make initial notes for paper due Dec. 10
Digitize some more LPs
Grocery shop, including the nonperishable part of Thanksgiving supplies
Sweep porch

TPS, I have only the greatest respect for you and the hubby. My wife also makes a kickass tater tot casserole. But that looks gross. How do you get a crispy tater tot layer on the top? It just looks too... squishy. I will admit to ignorance on my part here. Please enlighten this sad person.
posted by Splunge 11 November | 00:14
Some of us like squishy food. ; )
posted by Pips 11 November | 09:30
Yesterday was the first time I ever made it. It doesn't get crispy on top, but it does get some stuck together, almost burnt but not, crispy-ish parts on the bottom. And it might have gotten more, had I let it cook for longer (I did 4.5 hours).
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 11 November | 09:51
Stuff I did:
-laundry
-clean up the basement from the fiancee's cat that will only use the litter box once before pooping on the floor. luckily it's concrete.
-mow the lawn/leaves (hopefully last time)
-winterize the mower and motorcycles
-go grocery shopping
-put up a dangly thing in the garage so the fiancee knows when to stop, so she doesn't hit anything.

RE: tater tot casserole, to get crispy tots, you put them on after the casserole has been baking a while. doesn't work with the crockpot though.

Apparently babysitting is exhausting. I babysat last night and was home and asleep by midnight. I just woke up and it's almost 11! This is gonna be an action packed day full of caffiene to get all my stuff done!!! Wheeeee!

All my chores are done. I now plan to do nothing for the rest of the day, apart from watch TV. I am so invested in Masterchef Australia, which is so much better than the UK version, with its horrid shouty hosts.
posted by Senyar 11 November | 11:06
got the sweet potato thing cooking in the crock.
did some laundry.
got some work done. still have more to do.

but getting laundry done always makes me feel like i've accomplished something.

i did sneak in some reading of Insurgent, which is next in the series.

i think i saw some MasterChef US-version. is the Australian version less shouty than the US version too? i like the cooking but the yelling/drama is ick.

Painted almost 600 board feet of wood trim that the carpenters will hopefully nail to the porch tomorrow. I'm getting pretty excited about the porch project, it's really going to look awesome.
posted by octothorpe 11 November | 20:38
I did three of my list. There's still tomorrow!
