Cat sculpture, which was a gift. A few years later someone gave me the tiny cat, not knowing I had the big one. I love how they look together. ≡ Click to see image ≡
This is my most recent purchase. It's by Kirsten Schmidt and is a black ink print. It was quite difficult to photograph without too much reflection. What I love is its simplicity, yet you can make out quite clearly all the detail of the cat and his luxurious fur.
The partner and I are both part pack rat, so I apologize in advance for the slew of photos.
I just bought this painting a couple of weeks ago at a local art fest- it's about 18 inches high ≡ Click to see image ≡
Partner is really into this kind of pottery called "raku," which is dry-fired. The black marks on these pots were made by burning horse-hair against them while they were still hot.
More raku. The same artist who made the pots above made the tree branch, while the two animal faces were made by a different artist. ≡ Click to see image ≡
A little replica of the front of a New Orleans-style crypt, bought in New Orleans. This is small, about the size of a light switch plate. ≡ Click to see image ≡
Tulip lamp and daffodil window, both made by my dad back when I was a kid. ≡ Click to see image ≡
Most of my shit is in boxes, including anything I'd want to hang up. But I did buy this poster earlier this year and it's currently framed on my bedroom wall. I was living in Dallas during the Glitter & Doom tour, so I didn't attend this particular show, but I did go two nights before at the Palladium Ballroom.
I was wondering what the original of the artwork for a paperback I have might look like minus the graphics: 'World's Best SF 1970' without the World's Best SF. ≡ Click to see image ≡
I should really go take a few pictures of the house but it's so messy and I'm so tired lazy so I am just going to put up some old stuff. My house is a bit overwhelmingly full of art. Anyway!
A monoprint by my friend Noelle; I have a couple of her pieces up in the living room. ≡ Click to see image ≡
This is an ancestor of mine; he also graces the living room and manages not to be TOO out of place. ;-) ≡ Click to see image ≡
This is the only one of my aunt's paintings that I have - it's not a great photo of it. It's from the 50s and used, she says, to be half of a two piece set. ≡ Click to see image ≡
And here is a plate I drew on a while back and have always been fond of that is in the kitchen. ≡ Click to see image ≡
Great art, guys! I wasn't home early enough to take pictures of my artwork with at least a little natural light, so I have an assignment for tomorrow morning.
Aaaand I realized that I felt that was not enough, so I took some more pictures around my house and here they are:
Beginning at the bottom left, a woodcut by my friend Peter Garretson-Butt, a painting by my ex stepfather in law John Kefover, Noelle's print seen above, another Kefover and a little painting by my friend Jodi. ≡ Click to see image ≡
A better shot of Annie's painting, and a photo by my friend Zen and another photo by my friend Krista. ≡ Click to see image ≡
And a corner of the porch featuring a couple of my painted gourds, some gourds yet to be painted and Griselda, a styrofoam head I picked up at the beauty supply shop one day and painted. By the way, if you're ever stuck for a cheap present, I highly recommend them! I gave a bunch away for birthdays this year. ≡ Click to see image ≡
