but but but but there was a "sequel", another movie based on Shepard's writings that was set in his teen years. It was just okay.

Whelk: Shepherd actually did a ton of video/film one-hour programs and shorts for PBS in the late 70s/early 80s. Most of them are really hard to find, not in print, but a few are. Some are linked in the MeFi thread on YouTube.

I have never, ever seen that ratio of thumbs down to thumbs up votes.

The only good part was towards the end regarding the sailor costume:
