Good Albums on Cassette. I've been lost in this Tumblr blog all morning. Great, nostalgic scans.
Anyone else make custom cassette inserts for their mix tapes?
Of course - it was an art form! I actually have saved several of mine, and several that others made for me, even after throwing out the actual tapes. I liked using colored index cards and line drawing but also dabbled in collage. One of my friends had a great crosshatch technique and one was good at funky lettering.
I only ever bought a couple of pre-recorded cassettes, they sounded crappy and were too expensive. I had lots of albums taped from LPs onto TDK SA-90s though.

These were still in my car just a few short years ago. My friend laughed so hard - "You are the last person," she said, "In the world who still has Smiths cassettes floating around on the floor of her car."

I did make one for Minutemen's Double Nickels on the Dime with a crude drawing of a highway speed limit sign and including all 45 song titles (and songwriter credits!) in very small printing because I was young, had a lot of time on my hands, and it was a really great record.
