Happy Father's Day MetaDads!!
Tell us about your special day.
The Michigan race is rain-delayed.

Being the parent of an adult offspring who resides in another city leads to just a regular day.

Painting kitchen cabinets today.

Had a nice four mile run, watching Battlestar Galactica, going to see Prometheus with my son and his girlfriend and then going to a pan-asian place for dinner.

Next year, we will have at least two new daddies!

The Mrs. and I went to cute little (like, maybe, eight tables) hole-in-the-wall Thai place last night for Father's Day. Had Pad Ki Mao. Very hot. And a Thai iced tea. It was a very, very nice. Today, I'm just being lazy. Cooking a little, and watching the US Open.

For those of you wondering why no kids joined us at dinner, our daughter is currently working a summer internship in OKC, and our son was sleeping (he works a night shift job)

Am I correct to think that it's weird that someone just wished me (a female) a Happy Father's Day?

Depends. Do you have a happy father?

Huh?

Today is for happy fathers; next Sunday is for grouchy bastards.

Perfect. Next Sunday is my birthday. I love when it falls on Grouchy Bastard Day.

It was father's day?

Iffy. The kids were in a pretty thorough "not listening" mode, but there were no major injuries or trauma.

North of the equator dg....I confused my father a few years ago when I sent him an ecard on Oz Father's day.

My "traditionalist" son (who follows such holidays) sent me a bicycle handle.

Last year was an unspeakable mess of a day thanks to the recent death of my father and some bizarre acting out by his ex-wife's new husband. This year was a completely mellow non-event day of cleaning the crap out of my soon-to-be-sold barn with three good friends of mine. By the time we were all tuckered out at the restaurant, I didn't even bat an eye when the waitress wished us all a happy father's day [the only one who had offspring was my one friend who is a donor dad, three out of four of us had dead fathers and the other was like "oh right I should call my dad"] because I was pretty sure she meant well and because I took three hungry guys out to a great lunch for $50. But sorry, you may not have been talking to me.

I wish I could go through all the accumulated junk one more time that was once in my grandfather's barn. I spent hours tinkering with that stuff with no hope of ever fixing it but still learning how things worked.

Well Prometheus sure looks nice, doesn't really make a lick of sense but Ms. Theron looks fetching a space suit. Dinner was good though. Korean burrito, FTW.

Obscure Reference, That's a handy and clever little thing your son gave you. Bookmarked for later use.

Absolutely - I need one of those and didn't know it until now. A very clever son you have there.

I miss my dad every father's day, so yesterday was no exception. But there was this cool story this morning about another local's father's day . . .
