Swan's End: Attic before and after photo set I just finished the attic renovation today. There are pictures. And commentary. And now that the room is just so and immaculate, the first thing I will do is mess it up by starting some project or other.
Oh, Orange Swan, it looks lovely! I am loving the brightness, and it's really just beautiful!

OMIGOSH! I love your before and afters (if you hadn't picked up on that). I am so envious of you having such a wonderful space. Thanks for sharing!

Very nice work indeed.

Again, I really love what you did to the dresser. I am filing that away for some future project. (that I'll probably never do, but I love it!)

Very nice! It would no doubt be hideously expensive, but a custom-built storage unit, built-in desk space etc would be great right along one of those end walls.

I like that you have made good decisions about what to spend money on - replacing that door with a window was not only a good move, but windows are often more watertight than doors anyway. That roof area looks like a lovely space.

I'm probably going to steal the dresser idea for my teenage daughter's room.

If you've got a flat front dresser that isn't real wood, the decoupage poster idea is a great way to go. It looks really sharp and it's not hard to do. I also used the idea on the chest of drawers in the guest room, and it turned out even better than this one.

How lovely!

Did you put something over the print to seal it?
posted by dg 13 May | 21:49
I did. It has two coats of clear acrylic on it, as does the rest of the chest of drawers, including the inside of the drawers.

This is great. Happy Trilby approves.

Nice. I hope that we get around to doing something that cool to the third floor room in our place. Our is so dark, just two little windows at one end on either side of the chimney, at some point we'll need to put a skylight in or two.

I love attics. The one thing I really miss from the house I owned previously is the lovely attic -- it was MINE and I had everything in it just so and it was my special space. My present house has no attic, alas, although since I don't have to share it I suppose the entire house is my special space now.

That's absolutely lovely. You've done a fabulous job. (Trilby looks very handsome too.)

Superbly done: exactly the right amount of color, pattern, texture and interesting detail to delight. That's a tricky balance to achieve and you've succeeded beautifully.

Highest praise to you!

As usual.

Wow, what a difference! The space looks so fresh and bright! It must be wonderful to have such an airy pleasant space to work in.
