What's in your fruit bowl? I bet it's not all fruit! You're one of the most diverse and interesting groups of people I know, so chances are there's going to be some cool stuff! I'll go first...[More:]I have three mandarins, a dodgy apple, two wooden clothes pegs, a tap washer, a random piece of plastic thingy that is clearly important but I have no idea where it's from, and an old envelope with a recipe for dutch butter cookies on it. And dust. A heartbreaking amount of dust.
Apples, pears, bananas, oranges, plums and a few grapes which I am just about to eat. In the fridge is mango, strawberries, blueberries, raspberry, pineapple and kiwi. In a bag on the kitchen floor is a watermelon. I eat loads of fruit.

It's not a bowl, it's a basket, and up until last Thursday it contained six big mangoes.
On Thursday, they were cut-up into little cubes and frozen, in preparation for my making chutney for Christmas gifts.

Fruit in a bowl? Mine is in the freezer in small useful chunks.

I've got three fruit bowls/baskets. The first has bananas, peaches, apples, and apricots. The second has garlic, lemons and avocados. The third is filled with seed packets for this season's garden which I should have planted a week ago.

I also have three bowls (so I can separate different types of fruit). They're all empty. For a vegetarian, I have a lousy diet ...
On the plus side, it's been a while now since the dogs raided the stacked veggie baskets in the kitchen. Sweet potatoes, an eggplant, and a stack of courgettes (zucchini) are all tucked up safe. Although the carrots have to be shut up in a canine-proof refrigerator. Heaven forfend that they develop opposable thumbs.

Hmmm..when I asked this question on Facebook, many people had odd things like babies dummies and so forth tucked in with the gala apples and so on. Interesting...

Bananas. My fruit bowl is shaped like a fish, though.

Alas, just (organic CSA-share) fruit.

An avocado, two tomatoes, a sweet potato that never made it to the kitchen counter, and two cookie cutters that went on walkabout and ended up in the fruit basket.

That's the fruit basket. Our fruit bowl, which was an old wooden salad bowl, spontaneously split in two this week. Right down the middle.

I don't have a fruit bowl. But I am terribly impressed by Senyar's list and I need to go to the store.

Also holy cow Thorzdad already planning Christmas gifts.

Green apple, half a bag of panko, little packets of soy sauce that I can't bare to throw out cause I might have a SOY EMERGENCY

Hey don't laugh, I had a HOT MUSTARD EMERGENCY today. Two lovely pastrami eggrolls and no hot mustard. A few of those crappy mustard packets would have come in handy.

We also have three baskets (a hanging three tiered thingie). In the top basket is (are?) a few yellow onions and a few clumps of garlic. In the middle basket is a bunch of red onions and one tomato. In the bottom basket is a bunch of Granny Smith apples and three or four bananas.

Fruit bowl #1: Reading glasses, a shopping list, and a coupon for a trial pair of contacts.

Fruit bowl #2: a dead Blackberry (the phone, not the fruit), several inferior light bulbs from Ikea, a remote control for the garage door opener, and three tensor bandages.

I do have some (under-ripe) kiwi on my kitchen counter, and I have lots of blueberries, cranberries, peaches, raspberries and strawberries in the freezer.

Apples, mangoes (on sale), avocadoes (on sale), some shallots, a red onion, potatoes. There were artichokes in the fridge; now they are on the counter, waiting for the water to boil.

I was selling homemade whistles today in a basket. It doesn't quite count but you're looking for non-fruit things so I thought I'd share. I was also selling doodles, and made enough to earn me a nice pair of sandals.

And holy cow I just read this story of his hit-and-run in March 2000 and it's quite a story.

I have a collection of soft mesh colanders which I keep in a cabinet and deploy as needed, so there isn't a permanent bowl on the counter to collect random stuff. Right now I do have a colander of lemons on hand; everything else is in the refrigerator except for the alliums, which are hiding out in the dark pantry.

Alas, no tangerines.
