Nicholas Cage's Civil War Doppelganger Always fun.[More:] One of my early jobs was teaching in this program where we had about 100 new kids come through each week, and I taught there long enough to have worked with about 10,000 kids. The whole staff used to comment on how often kids from entirely different groups and places resembled one another a lot. The human genome is pretty big, but repetition is all over the place.
The seller, who has put the starting price at $1 million...

I am afraid he will be sorely disappointed when he finds that others do not esteem this photo quite so highly.

But still. It's a pretty close likeness.

This reminds me of a series of posts from My Daguerreotype Boyfriend featuring celebrity look-alikes. Some are just uncanny.

Holy shit that is cool.

The human genome is pretty big, but repetition is all over the place.

I feel like I noticed this early in life, because I mentally sort everything into "types."

If I owned that photo, I'd probably have just offered it to Nicholas Cage himself.

There are ten people I run into everywhere, and I say, "You look exactly like this guy named Robert." and they say, "My name is Robert!." etc.

I find if I call everyone Robert it is much easier for me to remember peoples names.

Also, where is 2012's version of Czar Nicholas of Russia? Hottest man ever. EVER. They killed him in the basement of his own house in 1917. If his daughter Anastasia really did survive, are there gorgeous Russians out there who are branches off his family tree?

I hope so.

Damn Nick looks like me about 22 years ago. I was adopted...

That's the hottest man ever? He's way prettier than I thought you went for. I didn't figure you for the pretty boy type.

This is a bad picture, bad angle, but is this guy pretty? He has a lighter in a locked box I've never even heard of before. I need to get a picture. He drew it on his hand. First day off probation. Smoking since he was 7. 22. Rolling cigar tobacco. Already got crazy bronchitis.

We do keep you around for a reason, arse_hat. *strokes cat*

Ooooh, BoringPostcards, sorry to disappoint, but they found Anastasia's bones (and the other brother who was also missing).

But hey, he was still pretty closely related to much of the European royalty. When George V called him "cousin Nicky" he was being literal. Really, just about every royal family member in all of Europe is first or second cousin to every other royal out there. In five or six different ways. And don't forget all the by-blows.

Yup, I remember thinking how very similar George V and Nicholas II looked when I read Nicholas and Alexandra as a kid. Here's a picture of them wearing the same thing to compare. I think Nicholas is still hotter but those genes are probably still knocking around somewhere. And I think I definitely go for the pretty boy type.
