Anyone up for some MP3 player shuffle action? You know the drill: MP3 player device of choice on shuffle, first ten songs, post them here.
→[More:] Here's what I got:
1.
the SKIDS - Masquerade (Dumfermline collection) A non lp single from 1979 - featuring a bit of that bagpipe guitar that would be so prominent in Stuart Adamson's next band, Big Country.
2.
the DANDY WARHOLS - Solid (Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia 2000) - The further I get from the newness of the Dandy's the more I realize how many of their songs sound the same. Still likable, but often just a variation on another Dandys song.
3.
the GRASS ROOTS - Mamacita (Anthology 1965-1975) "She's got a foxy smile, but I better warn ya, she's the straightest lady in the state of California" - they don't write em like that anymore.
4.
STAN RIDGWAY - Can't Stop the Show live (the Big Heat 1986) A live bonus cut from Stan's first solo album.
5.
MGMT - the Handshake (Oracular Spectacular 2007) MGMT won't have much more time on my hard drive - this is pretty boring.
6.
the DILLARDS - the Whole World Round (There is a Time 1963-1970) The Dillards were probably the first bluegrass band I ever heard thanks to their recurring spots as the Darlings on the Andy Griffith Show.
7.
SOFT CELL - Soul Inside (Very Best of) Until I looked to see who this was I could have sworn it was Wolfgang Press, which seems silly now since that's obviously Marc Almond signing.
8.
PAPAS FRITAS - Lost in a Dream (Buildings and Grounds 2000) Nice easy going pop song from the Massachusetts band.
9.
BO DIDDLEY - 500% More Man (the Chess Box) Such a simple riff (which is why it's used so often), but still one of my faves.
10.
DUCKWORTH LEWIS METHOD - the Nightwatchman (the Duckworth Lewis Method 2009) If I had to pick a single favorite concept album about cricket, the debut (and only) album from Neil Hannon of The Divine Comedy and Thomas Walsh of Pugwash's Duckworth Lewis Method would definitely top the list. I have no clue what they're talking about, but the tunes sure are great.
So, what's on your shuffle?
